Job description:
Purpose
To develop and implement condition monitoring and predictive maintenance technologies and interventions to improve asset performance. The Condition Monitoring Specialist will also be responsible for developing, maintaining, and implementing Condition Monitoring standards to improve work practices and increase asset life.
Key Responsibilities
Health, Safety, and Environment Management
- Promote and encourage compliance with safety, health, and environmental policies, standards, procedures, and regulations.
- Raise and follow up on the closure of hazards and perform sectional safety inspections.
- Identify and respond to risks by developing and implementing Environmental, Health, and Safety procedures to achieve a zero-incident culture.
Assessment of Process Plant Performance
- Lead CM technicians in daily follow-up and feedback on condition monitoring PMs.
- Provide daily and weekly reporting on the condition and status of critical assets.
- Track critical equipment wear rates (crusher, conveyors, and mills) and optimise related data analysis to predict life for change-outs.
- Validate and verify the CM reporting database for data integrity, scope, and recommendations.
- Provide monthly reports on sectional equipment condition by failure modes, related actions, and recommendations.
- Track CM recommendations and ensure they are scheduled in maintenance sections’ weekly plans.
Business Analysis & Improvement
- Conduct supplementary inspections on critical equipment during shutdowns to consolidate findings and analysis by the condition monitoring team.
- Advise maintenance teams on equipment risk by applying all CM technologies to determine the risk and severity of failure.
- Enhance CM technicians’ technical abilities in vibration analysis by giving timely and appropriate recommendations from findings.
- Actively lead the CM team in work executions with 100% work order compliance, failure analysis, and document control. Take a leading role in personal development and training efforts.
Qualifications
- Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering Diploma or Degree.
- Proficiency in data analysis using appropriate Microsoft packages.
- Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ).
Experience
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar position with hands-on maintenance condition monitoring experience.
- Exposure to maintenance management systems such as Pronto, SAP, Maximo MI7.
- Knowledge of failure analysis methodologies, reliability principles, maintenance strategies, condition monitoring, and continuous improvement processes.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
