Job description:
PURPOSE
Provide technical expertise in the management of the mining fleet field maintenance assets to an agreed acceptable level of performance at the lowest sustainable level of cost under the Drills Section.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- The incumbent will be required to adhere to all relevant requirements, policies, procedures and legal regulations pertaining to health, safety, environment and quality, as well as finance, human resources, and any other regulations as required by the company and relevant to the level of the role and responsibilities of the function;
- Provide technical guidance and expertise to the maintenance personnel and provide opportunities for continuous improvement;
- Address technical issues on the equipment and carry daily inspections to a high standard to ensure defects are identified prior to failure;
- Provide the resources and estimates needed to plan and schedule the defects into Pronto and make sure they are executed prior to failure;
- Assist in the on-going development and compliance of the departmental, particularly in his/her area of influence, as well as company objectives and strategic plans;
- Ensure Environmental controls are given consideration to perform tasks related to Inspection, Planned/Unplanned Maintenance events;
- Assist in the implementation and on-going use of Pronto Plant Maintenance to maximize accurate costing at the work order level; and
- Provide mentoring and coaching support to the Supervisors to ensure they understand shift priorities and can direct the team as needed.
- Ensure all excavator maintenance is carried out as per AMS maintenance plan
- Analysis of information relating to excavator maintenance and productivities
- Resolve technical issues which improve productivity of the Companies excavator fleet
- Prepare weekly, monthly, yearly maintenance plans for excavators
- Ensure maximum Equipment availability.
- Diagnostic fault finding on mechanical systems.
- Repairing equipment, identifying and scheduling future planned repairs.
- Adhere to safe working procedures for all work areas.
- Maintain a high standard of housekeeping at all times.
- Ability to use Root- cause analysis tools in investigating breakdowns and sub-standard performance of equipment.
- Perform inspections on completed jobs.
- Review of weekly plans and ensure that they are realistic and achievable.
- Support continuous improvement processes.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement in fleet maintenance.
- Provide direction to the Foreman and the maintenance crew.
- Actively participate in all section activities which include toolbox meetings and shift handover communication to promote excellence in communications.
- Provide technical advice for existing equipment and Development projects.
- Perform any other duties as and when assigned by the Superintendent
QUALIFICATIONS
- Grade 12 Certificate
- Diploma in Heavy Equipment Engineering or any related tertiary qualification from a recognized institution.
- Craft Certificate in HER
- Member of EIZ
- Driving License
EXPERIENCE
- 10 Years practical work experience in Sandvic and Epiroc Drilling Rigs
- Advanced trouble shooting and diagnostic skills;
- Commented to continuous improvement, knowledge sharing and up skilling of the local workforce; and
- Committed to Health and Safety
- Ability to coordinate multiple disciplines within projects to meet customers’ specific performance requirements for quality, cost and completion targets.
- Ability to prepare technical specifications and documents.
- Knowledge of pronto or other enterprise system
