Job description:

Overall Job Purpose:

The Specialist, Engineering and Mine Maintenance Training will be responsible for developing and executing of all Engineering and Mine Maintenance Trainings at Trident in line with national legislative guidelines and company policies and procedures. S/he will oversee the strategic development, preparation and delivery of training policies, procedures and material that strives to establish a positive health and safety culture. S/he will be responsible for the internal monitoring and audit of all Engineering and Mine Maintenance-related obligations at TRI and will be required to provide associated Maintenance Training reports as per organisational demand.

Specific Job Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate instructor performance and the effectiveness of training programs and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Develop Training materials and assessments that are in line with Trident’s standard operating procedures.
  • Confer with management and conduct surveys to identify training needs based on projected processes, changes, and other factors.
  • Plan, develop, and provide training and staff development programs.
  • Analyze training needs to develop new training programs or modify and improve existing programs.

 

Job Specific Competencies:

  • Train Mine supervisors to enhance knowledge and skill for a better performance.
  • Prepare training budget for the Mine Maintenance and OSD Department when needed.
  • Ensure that the training strategies are effectively and efficiently implemented and in line with the organisational goals.

 

Key Job Attributes:

  • Manage the scheduling of all Mine Maintenance trainings and resources to meet operational and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain strong community and government relationships to synergise opportunities that complement Trident’s training programmes and encourage the development of local employees.
  • Provide timely and reliable reports on training activities to assist in strategic planning and business decision-making processes.
  • Coordinate and supervise the Engineering and Mine Maintenance training teams

Experience required to perform in this job:

  • Review and implement longer term training initiatives for the unit.
  • Conduct formal career development discussions with employees to identify development opportunities and programmes that assist with defining future career progression possibilities.
  • Provide day-to-day management acting as a technical reference point and mentor for staff to ensure work outputs are in line with strategic and business plans.
  • Control the quality of work output from the department by implementing an ongoing monitoring and audit process to ensure compliance with company standards.

 

Qualifications:

  • Full grade twelve (G12) school certificate.
  • Minimum of a Degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum of diploma in technical teaching/teaching methodology or equivalent.
  • Training professional registered with TEVETA.
  • Valid EIZ licence.
  • Valid drivers’ licence.
  • Valid first aid certificate.
