EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY
The Zambia Forestry and Forest Industries Corporation PLC (ZAFFICO) is a listed and publicly traded company whose mission is to establish and manage industrial exotic forest plantations and agroforestry products to meet demand and maximize return on investment.
In pursuance of its mission and strategic goals, the Corporation is now inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates for the under-listed position:
1.0 HUMAN RESOURCE MANAGER-OPERATIONS
Reporting to: Director Human Resource
1.1 JOB PURPOSE
Overseeing the data-driven aspects of Human Resources operations, focusing on ensuring the activities and processes are effective, efficient, and aligned with organizational goals. This role will also work closely with leadership, the Human Resource (HR) team, and employees to ensure that performance is aligned with the Corporation’s goals and that individual employee performance is continuously optimised.
1.2 MAIN DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES OF THE JOB HOLDER
1.2.1 Data Analysis and Reporting:
• Collecting, analysing, and interpreting HR data related to employee performance, retention, hiring trends, compensation, and benefits.
• Generating reports and presenting insights on workforce trends, turnover rates, hiring metrics, and other HR Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to senior leadership.
• Identifying patterns in HR data to inform decision-making.
1.2.2 HR Metrics and KPIs:
• Developing and tracking HR Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) such as time-to-hire, cost-per-hire, employee engagement, staff productivity, retention rates etc.
• Providing insights into these metrics to improve HR practices and strategies.
1.2.3 Process Improvement:
• Identifying inefficiencies in HR operations and recommending improvements to streamline HR processes like recruitment, onboarding, employee development, and performance management.
• Implementing new HR technologies or systems to enhance operations, such as HR software for tracking employee data or automating routine HR tasks.
1.2.4 Employee Experience and Engagement:
• Analysing employee feedback, satisfaction surveys, and engagement scores to suggest improvements in employee experience and retention strategies.
• Collaborating with the HR and leadership teams to implement solutions based on data insights.
1.2.5 Compliance and Risk Management:
• Ensuring HR operations comply with labour laws, regulatory
requirements, and company policies by continuously monitoring HR activities and recommending compliance changes.
• Analysing risk areas such as turnover or legal issues and advising on preventative actions.
1.2.6 Budgeting and Forecasting:
• Assisting with HR budgeting, specifically for payroll, benefits, recruitment, and training.
• Assisting with the forecasting of HR needs based on business growth and market trends and ensuring the organization has the right number of employees with the right skills.
1.2.7 Collaboration and Communication:
• Collaborating with other departments to ensure smooth HR operations.
• Communicating complex HR data and insights to non-HR managers and senior executives.
1.2.8 Technology and HR Tools Management:
• Overseeing the effective use of HR software (e.g., Human Resource Information Systems – HRIS) to collect and store employee data.
• Leveraging advanced HR analytics tools to gain insights from big data, artificial intelligence, and machine learning in areas like talent acquisition and retention.
• Supporting and guiding managers in conducting performance appraisals and feedback sessions.
• Addressing underperformance and assisting in employee performance improvement plans.
2.0 MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
• Full Grade twelve (12) Certificate or equivalent.
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Analytics or other relevant fields.
• Masters’ degree or equivalent is an added advantage.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in HR, ideally with a focus on HR Operations or data analysis, of which at least 3 years should be in a leadership role.
• Experience with HRIS and Performance Management systems is highly preferred.
• Good writing and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to analyse data and translate it into actionable insights for HR improvements.
• Member of the Zambia Institute of Human Resource Management.
