Lusaka Golf Club
Located in the heart of Lusaka, Lusaka Golf Club is Zambia’s most prestigious sporting facility attracting a cross section of golfing Zambians and visiting nationalities. It is a popular Club with 600 members. The Club has entered into an arrangement with developers to overhaul the course, the club house and construct a hotel and related entertainment facilities on the property.
Consequently, the Club is now seeking to employ a Golf Course Superintendent with ambition and drive to supervise these developments and manage the modern golf course. Employment will be on three years Fixed Term Contract, renewable dependent on performance. The successful candidate will be directly answerable to the General Manager,
Responsibilities:
• The Golf Course Superintendent is one who is entrusted with the maintenance, operation and management of the golf course.
• It is his/her responsibility to supervise the maintenance of the golf course, supervise the maintenance and repair of construction and maintenanceequipment, and to do related work as required.
• Specifically the Golf Course Superintendent must:
• Supervise the mowing, watering and maintenance of tees, greens, fairways and related areas.
• Supervise the planting, fertilizing and maintenance of turf.
• Generally supervise the operation of an equipment repair shop.
• Order supplies and materials within budgetary limitations.
• Keep records of annual maintenance activities.
• Prepare personnel and cost estimates for the annual maintenance departmentbudget.
• Possess thorough knowledge of the maintenance of the different types of turf usedon golf courses, and the planting, cultivating, pruning, and caring for plants, shrubsand trees.
• Possess thorough knowledge of the characteristics and proper use of variousfertilizers and soil conditioners, herbicides and pest control methods and materials.
• Possess thorough knowledge of drainage control methods, watering and irrigation systems, including wells, pumps and automatic controls.
