Job Title: Accountant

Reports to: The Finance Manager

Location: Lusaka

Job Summary:

The Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial statements, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Financial record-keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
2. Financial statement preparation: Prepare financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
3. Accounting and financial reporting: Ensure compliance with accounting standards, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
4. Budgeting and forecasting: Assist in preparing budgets and forecasts.
5. Internal controls: Implement and maintain internal controls to ensure financial integrity.

Professional qualifications:

1. A minimum of 2 years of experience in similar position preferably in microfinance.
2. Grade Twelve Certificate with six credits or better, English and Mathematics a must;
3. CA Application Advanced Diploma in Accountancy, ZICA
4. Licentiate, ACCA Level 2, CIMA Level 2.
5. Must be a member of ZICA
6. Skills: Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills.

Microfinance Specifics:

1. Understanding of microfinance regulations: Familiarity with regulatory requirements and accounting standards for microfinance institutions.
2. Loan portfolio management: Experience with loan portfolio management and provisioning.
3. Financial inclusion: Understanding of financial inclusion and microfinance principles.
