Reporting to the Senior Environmental Officer – Monitoring and Measurement, the role involves collecting, analyzing, and reporting environmental data to ensure compliance with environmental standards and contribute to continuous improvement in environmental performance. You will be responsible for supporting the environmental monitoring programs, focusing on water quality and laboratory operations.
Duties and responsibility for this position will include but not limited to the following.
- Conduct routine sampling and monitoring activities across site locations, including water, soil, and air quality.
- Maintain accurate records of sampling activities and ensure data integrity.
- Collect and analyze data related to water quality, emissions, and other environmental parameters.
- Prepare summaries and reports on monitoring results and trends.
- Monitor compliance with environmental standards and permits.
- Prepare reports for statutory and internal reporting (daily, weekly, monthly).
- Assist in maintaining up-to-date records to meet regulatory requirements.
- Calibrate and maintain field monitoring equipment to ensure accuracy.
- Coordinate maintenance schedules and troubleshoot equipment issues as required.
- Collaborate with the Environmental team to implement monitoring plans.
- Provide support during environmental audits and inspections.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders on monitoring-related inquiries.
To be considered for the position, one must meet the following requirements:
- Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate
- Minimum Degree in Environmental Science/Engineering, or related field.
- Basic knowledge of ISO14001
- Basic knowledge of environmental regulations and standards.
- Proficiency in data analysis and reporting/ software.
- Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook is a must
- Registered Member of the Engineering Institution of Zambia is an advantage
- 2 years’ experience in a similar position
- Possessing a valid Zambian or SADC driver’s license
