Lumwana Mining Company is seeking to recruit a highly committed employee for the position of Environmental Officer – Environmental Management System to join the versatile Environmental Department. We are in search of an individual who can champion Barrick’s DNA by:

Reporting to the Environmental Coordinator – EMS, this position involves implementation and maintenance of the Environmental Management System, conducting training and awareness, data analysis and reporting and assistance in implementing environmental programs. You will play a crucial role in supporting environmental initiatives and compliance efforts within the organization.
Duties and responsibility for this position will include but not limited to the following.
- Implement and maintain Environmental Management System (EMS).
- Develop and implement procedures and protocols to meet EMS requirements.
- Participate in the development and execution of environmental training programs and awareness sessions on environmental policies, procedures, and compliance.
- Collect, analyse, and report environmental data to track performance and identify areas for improvement.
- Assist in planning and executing environmental programs and initiatives to achieve sustainability.
- Monitor regulatory changes, ensure compliance with environmental laws, and maintain necessary permits and licenses.
- Conduct environmental risk assessments.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders on environmental issues.
- Perform field assessments to identify potential environmental risks and concerns.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure adherence to environmental policies.
- Assist in the response to environmental incidents and emergencies.
To be considered for the position, one must meet the following requirements:
- Grade Twelve (12) School Certificate
- Minimum Degree in Environmental Science/Engineering, Environmental Technology, or related field.
- Implementation knowledge of ISO14001
- Basic knowledge of environmental regulations and standards.
- Excellent verbal, written, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook skill is a must.
- 2 years’ experience in a similar position
- Possessing a valid Zambian or SADC driver’s license
