About the role

The Maintenance Planning Coordinator is responsible for developing and delivering work plans and schedules that optimize efficient maintenance execution and plant uptime.
This role involves managing contractors, overseeing power generators, power transformers, and high potential electrical equipment, as well as performing installation work.
The Coordinator supports the production plant by managing all electrical areas and joining the maintenance department across our two plants in Zambia.

What you will be doing

As the Maintenance Planning Coordinator, you will be responsible for:
• Overseeing the maintenance of electrical installations on-site
• Performing hands-on work and coordinating activities with third parties or contractors
• Managing contractors and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards
• Maintaining and servicing power generators and power transformers
• Conducting maintenance, monitoring and installation work on high potential electrical equipment
• Supporting the production plant by ensuring all electrical areas are well-maintained
• Ensuring timely and efficient maintenance planning and execution
• Maintaining detailed records of maintenance activities and equipment status
• Planning and scheduling all maintenance work (online, offline, preventative, predictive, and corrective) including its inputs (material, equipment, and labor)
• Preparing and issuing the weekly maintenance schedule with approval from the Maintenance Planning Superintendent and Maintenance Execution Superintendent
• Reviewing and processing all maintenance notifications daily for quality and priority
• Liaising with subject matter experts where scopes are unclear, incomplete, outside the area of expertise, or above a technical threshold
• Developing and continuously improving a library of maintenance task lists in SAP that facilitates the planning of the work
• Ensuring closure of maintenance work orders and history recording in line with standards set by Reliability
• Supporting the execution control of the Product Line(s) annual maintenance budget on behalf of the Maintenance Execution Superintendent
• Entering into and managing strategic sourcing contracts required to efficiently execute the Manufacturing Centre’s maintenance strategy with support from Supply Chain and Planning
• Ensuring, through collaboration with the Maintenance Execution Superintendent, cost-effective maintenance execution resourcing is in place and adjusted to deliver the weekly schedule in line with preventative/corrective maintenance and cost requirements
• Supporting the reliability improvement agenda through escalation of continuous improvement opportunities to the Reliability and Integrity Teams for consideration (e.g., Bad Actors, PM optimization)
• Monitoring maintenance planning management KPIs (lag and lead) and identifying and driving improvement opportunities in collaboration with the Maintenance Planning Superintendent and the Maintenance Execution Superintendent
• Managing planners and schedulers through engagement and motivation, including ensuring their training and development, performance management, reward, and recognition
• Ensuring compliance reporting (including supporting KPIs) for asset category related corporate and regulatory standards and procedures

What you will bring

• Diploma or bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering
• Experience in processing plant environments
• Knowledge of transformers and high potential electrical equipment
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in electrical maintenance
• Blasting license (preferred)
• Knowledge of PLC (Programmable Logic Controller)
• Strong attention to detail and ability to perform manual tasks
• Energetic personality with the ability to multitask and prioritize workload
• Demonstrated ability to be a team player and work cooperatively with other stakeholders
• Strong client service orientation
• Preparedness to work in various plant environments
• Confidentiality and accuracy
• Availability to travel as required
