    We are inviting suitably qualified candidates to apply for the following position:

     

    HANDS-ON MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR

    Luanshya, Copperbelt Province, Zambia | Reports to: Maintenance Manager

     

    ROLE OVERVIEW

    The Hands-On Maintenance Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring the seamless operation of all equipment and systems through regular preventive maintenance, fault-finding, and prompt repair of breakdowns. This role demands a technically capable, proactive individual who is both mechanically and electrically oriented, with a proven track record of hands-on quality maintenance. The successful candidate will be equally comfortable working independently and collaboratively under pressure, adhering strictly to maintenance schedules and company protocols.

     

     

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

    Preventive & Corrective Maintenance

    •       Perform continuous routine inspections and preventive maintenance on all machinery and equipment across the operation

    •       Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical and electrical faults efficiently, ensuring timely repairs and minimal production downtime

    •       Execute breakdown repairs and respond to emergency maintenance calls promptly, including after-hours callouts when required

    •       Maintain a disciplined approach to maintenance schedules, ensuring all planned work is completed on time and to standard

     

    Supervisory & Team Collaboration

    •       Lead and mentor junior technicians, fostering a collaborative, hands-on work environment built on accountability and quality

    •       Work independently and as part of the broader maintenance team to ensure operational continuity across all departments

    •       Maintain clear and effective communication with team members and management regarding work status, repairs, parts requirements, and scheduled maintenance

     

    Technical & Administrative Duties

    •       Utilise Microsoft Planner and other tools to document maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used for compliance and future reference

    •       Follow and enforce strict maintenance schedules, safety procedures, and company protocols at all times

    •       Assist in identifying recurring faults and contribute to the development of long-term maintenance improvement plans

     

    Emergency Response & Flexibility

    •       Respond swiftly to urgent maintenance and breakdown situations outside of regular working hours when required

    •       Adapt quickly to changing work environments and shifting priorities during high-pressure operational situations

    •       Demonstrate a ‘get it done’ attitude — willing to get hands dirty and lead by example in all maintenance tasks

     

    QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

    •       A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a senior maintenance role, with proven hands-on experience in both mechanical and electrical maintenance

    •       A trade qualification or technical certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field is preferred

    •       Strong mechanical aptitude with a sound working knowledge of electrical systems, control panels, and associated equipment

    •       Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing a broad range of equipment faults, including breakdowns on production and farming machinery

    •       Familiarity with preventive maintenance systems and documentation tools, including Microsoft Planner or similar platforms

    •       Experience working in a production, agri-business, or industrial environment will be a distinct advantage

    •       Must be a member of, or eligible for membership with, the Engineering Institution of Zambia (EIZ)

     

    SKILLS & ATTRIBUTES

    •       Highly organised, reliable, and disciplined in following detailed maintenance schedules and technical instructions

    •       Excellent hands-on technical ability — not afraid to get involved personally in all maintenance tasks

    •       Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills with a logical, methodical approach

    •       Effective leadership and mentoring skills, with the ability to build and motivate a maintenance team

    •       Good written and verbal communication skills for reporting and team coordination

    •       Physically capable of performing demanding hands-on maintenance tasks in a farm and production environment

    •       Flexibility to work extended or abnormal hours during emergencies, breakdowns, or peak operational periods

    •       Sober character, self-motivated, and committed to continuous improvement and quality workmanship
