Job description
- efficiently inspects structural systems based on local and national building codes
- assembles structural components to create a finished system, using blueprints as a guide
- Analyses the blueprints for mechanical systems to determine the specifications of the components to be constructed.
- Carries out mechanical running and stopped inspection of fixed plant equipment
- Fits structural components together to create finished systems
- uses his/her analytical and problem-solving skills so run tests on structural systems to determine the root cause of the malfunction, devise a plan of action, and troubleshoot these malfunctions by replacing the necessary components.
- creates and implements maintenance procedures and schedules for all the systems under his/her control, which may include keeping an organized maintenance log.
- Ensures that pre-planned maintenance is carried out effectively and downtime reduced
- Strictly adheres to all health and safety policies and procedures, including the use of the appropriate protective clothing (PPE)
Qualifications
- Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical Engineering, Fitting and Machining, or a related field.
- Trade Test Certificate (e.g., Class 1 Fitter) is highly desirable.
- Grade Twelve (12) Certificate
- Professional Engineering license required (EIZ)
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Mechanical Technician or Fitter, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Experience with maintenance and repair of pumps, aerators, and other mechanical systems is an advantage.
Must have skills
- Proficiency in using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and manuals
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and rotating equipment.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities
