Reporting to the Senior Metallurgist – Planning & Accounting, you will be responsible for preparing of accounting reports, monitoring and managing Plant performance and consumable consumption, managing metallurgical accounting systems and to conducting other metallurgical tests as directed by Senior Metallurgists.

You will be required to give Metallurgical/Operational support but not limited to the following:

  • Promote and comply with the Occupational Health & Safety Policy.
  • Collaborating with the Senior Metallurgist to follow metallurgical strategies and plans, ensure the implementation of agreed-upon plant operating parameters in coordination with the Plant Operations team.
  • Oversee all stages of the metallurgical process to enable adjustments to process controls, optimizing plant performance, and ensuring the calibration of weighing instruments, including weighbridge and weightometer checks.
  • Ensure metallurgical accounting records are maintained, and daily metallurgical accounting reports are issued in a timely and accurate manner. Drive production meetings
  • Responsible for conducting weekly, monthly quarterly and yearly reconciliation and issuing out of respective reports.
  • Manage concentrate shed and work hand in hand with Geologist and Mining planning teams to prepare weekly, monthly and annual plans.
  • Ensure accurate metallurgical accounting procedures and review metallurgical reporting
  • Ensure that supplies of reagents and consumables remain at planned inventory levels through proactive engagement meetings with supply team.
  • Develop and monitor targets for improvement in plant utilization and product recoveries
  • Review expenditure monthly, Quarterly, Yearly costs and ensure all variances to budget/forecast are investigated and explained.
  • Responsible for the preparation of accurate Forecasts and Budgets including presenting to management on time.
  • Ensuring expenditure of consumables is within approved budgetary limits and Company procedures
  • Experience in the use of metallurgical accounting databases and management of accounting systems.
  • Responsible for Flotation test works (Geo-Met) used for ore classification by mineral resource team (Geologists). Knowledge of Instream Analyzers is required.
  • Carry out flotation test to determine maximum copper concentrate grade and copper in final tailings achievable for a given ore prior to feeding the Plant and advise mining team accordingly.

 To be considered for the position, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum Grade 12 School Certificate
  • Must be a recent graduate from a recognized learning institution
  • Degree/Diploma in Metallurgical/Chemical Engineering or related field
  • Good communication Skills
  • Willingness to Learn
  • Attention to detail
