About the role

We are extremely excited to announce that we are on the lookout for a dedicated Operator – MMU to be based at our customer site in Kansashi Mine.

An MMU is a highly advanced Heavy Rigid vehicle fitted with latest technologies and onboard computer systems ad is used to pump explosive products into pre-drilled blast holes on our customer site. As an MMU (Mobile Manufacturing Unit) Operator at Orica, you will be responsible for the safe operation of MMU trucks to deliver and load bulk explosives at mining sites. This role ensures all activities comply with safety, environmental, and regulatory standards while supporting efficient blasting operations.

 

What you will be doing

Demonstrating and setting the example of our key company value: “Safety is our Priority, always” at all times acting with integrity and respect;

Providing all outside labour intensive work involved in the preparing and loading of Quarry blast patterns;

Perform pre-start checks and routine maintenance on MMU equipment;

Operating our MMU vehicle (Mobile Manufacturing Units) and other associated blasting plant and machinery, transport and load bulk explosives at designated blast sites;

Assist with the ‘hands-on’ delivery of explosive products down pre-drilled blast holes on bench;

Providing an excellence in service to our valued customers;

Daily administration and customer interactions when required;

Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and comply with all site safety regulations;

Monitor and control stock levels of raw materials (e.g., ammonium nitrate, fuel, emulsions);

Maintain accurate records of daily operations, including product usage and safety checks;

Report safety incidents, equipment malfunctions, or operational issues to supervisors;

 

What you will bring

Education: High school diploma or higher qualification.

A current Heavy Rigid (HR) drivers’ licence is essential;

Demonstrated work history performing physical work outside, in all weather conditions;

Ability to pass all required security checks in which to obtain a Dangerous Goods licence;

An excellent, positive and team-based attitude where you look out for your mates;

A basic mechanical comprehension is advantageous, but not essential.
