ADVERTISEMENT NO. 1 OF 2025
JOB OPPORTUNITY
Pursuant to the provisions of Article 140 of the Constitution, Chapter 1 of Laws of Zambia as amended by the Constitution of Zambia (Amendment) Act No. 2 of 2016 (“the Constitution”), the Judicial Service Commission hereby invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to be recommended for appointment to fill twenty (20) positions in the Superior Courts (High Court and Court of Appeal).
(a) JOB PURPOSE
The job purpose is to ensure that judicial authority of the Republic of Zambia is exercised in accordance with Article 118 of the Constitution.
(b) KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful applicants shall be responsible for discharging judicial functions in accordance with the following principles imbedded in Article 118(2) of the Constitution:
i. justice shall be done to all, without discrimination;
ii. justice shall not be delayed;
iii. adequate compensation shall be awarded, where payable;
iv. alternative forms of dispute resolution, including traditional dispute resolution mechanisms, shall be promoted;
v. Justice shall be administered without undue regard to procedural technicalities; and
vi. The values and principles of the Constitution shall be protected and promoted.
(c) REQUIREMENTS
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
i. At least ten (10) years’ active practice and experience as a legal practitioner or such experience in other relevant legal field.
ii. Have a high moral character, integrity and impartiality. In addition to the above qualifications, the applicants must demonstrate a high degree of professional competence, communication skills, fairness, good temperament, good judgment in both legal and life experiences and commitment to public and community service.
iii. Must be medically fit, resilient and able to withstand a heavy workload and have the capacity to deliver results within strict prescribed timeframes.
iv. Must possess the qualifications stipulated in Article 141 of the Constitution.
v. Must hold a valid practicing certificate.
vi. Must be ready to work anywhere in the Republic of Zambia.
(d) MODE OF APPLICATION

The applications must include the following:
- A detailed Curriculum Vitae (CV) summarising the applicant’s bio-data including their background information and legal professional experience.
- Three (3) professional referees and two (2) character referees who can verify and comment on the applicant’s past and present employment.
- Attach certified copies of the National Registration Card (NRC), testimonials, academic and professional qualifications, and a medical report from a Government Hospital.
- Five (5) samples of any writings by the applicant, including but not limited to judgments (where applicable), traceable legal arguments presented before Courts or cases handled, scholarly writings or any legal publications that the applicant has. authored.
iii. Applicants who may have submitted applications for appointment prior to the issuance of this advertisement are encouraged to re-apply.
