    Restored Hope Zambia (RHZ) is a Christian NGO dedicated to restoring hope to survivors of church-related abuse in Zambia. Through free trauma-informed counselling, legal support, community awareness initiatives, leadership training, and advocacy for institutional reform, RHZ works to ensure survivors are heard, protected, and supported.     About the Role

    Are you a compassionate and proactive leader with a deep commitment to Christian values and social justice? Restored Hope Zambia (RHZ) is seeking an Operations and Development Lead to guide our team and strengthen our mission.

    This pivotal role is perfect for someone who can combine strong operational leadership with warmth, empathy, and initiative. You will be a key driver of RHZ’s development, overseeing survivor-centred, trauma-informed programmes, supporting and inspiring staff and volunteers, and bringing fresh ideas to help our organisation grow sustainably.

     

    Reporting directly to the Board Chair, you will be responsible for ensuring RHZ’s work is delivered effectively, strategically, and in line with our vision and values.

    This role is Full Time (35 hours per week) and is based at the RHZ premises in Lusaka.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Strategic Leadership & Governance (25%): Provide strategic direction, represent RHZ at high-level meetings, and ensure alignment with our vision and Christian values. You will also oversee annual reporting and ensure legal and constitutional compliance.

    People & HR Management (10%): Recruit, support, and inspire a small team of staff, volunteers and consultants, fostering a culture of compassion, initiative, and collaboration. You will be responsible for developing HR policies, coordinating training and pastoral support, and addressing HR matters with wisdom and integrity.

    Programme Oversight & Delivery (15%): Oversee the design and delivery of survivor support, legal reform, and community engagement projects. You will ensure robust monitoring and evaluation and build partnerships through memoranda of understanding (MOUs).

    Fundraising & Financial Oversight (25%): Develop and implement fundraising strategies and manage grant applications. You will oversee budgets in collaboration with the Treasurer, ensuring good donor stewardship and financial integrity.

    Marketing, Media & Public Engagement (10%): Oversee RHZ’s public image and communications across media channels. You will represent the organisation in interviews and ensure website/social media content reflects our mission.

    Safeguarding & Risk Management (10%): Uphold RHZ’s safeguarding commitments and ensure all staff and volunteers are properly trained. You will lead the response to any safeguarding concerns and liaise with law enforcement and partners as needed.

    Systems & Infrastructure Oversight (5%): Maintain and enhance our digital tools and internal systems, ensuring the team has the resources they need to work efficiently.

    Essential Qualifications and Experience

    · A mature Christian committed to RHZ’s vision and values.

    · A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. NGO management, social work, business administration, law).

    · At least 5 years of proven leadership experience in a non-profit or church ministry setting.

    · Experience of leading survivor-centred and trauma-informed programmes.

    · Strong track record in managing staff, projects, and fundraising.

    · Excellent communication, interpersonal, and cross-cultural skills.

    · Demonstrated ability to combine strong leadership with compassion, empathy, and approachability.

    · Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, bringing fresh ideas and initiative.

    Desirable Qualifications and Experience

    · Knowledge of the Zambian legal system, church structures, or social justice work.

    · Experience in counselling, legal advocacy, or community mobilisation.

    · Fluency in local languages (Bemba, Nyanja, Tonga, Lozi).

    · Basic digital/media design skills and experience managing web/social media.
