The Key Purpose of this role is to safely operate and maintain defined Packaging equipment and related processes in order to achieve optimal effectiveness.

 

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

 

Operate Packaging Plant and Equipment:

  • Prepare for plant start up
  • Start-up plant
  • Run the plant
  • Shut down the plant
  • Execute cleaning of plant
  • Complete all documentation
  • Control inputs usage
  • Ensure plant is in working order

 

Maintain safe and healthy work environment:

  • Health Safety and Environment
  • Adherence to PPE policy
  • Unsafe conditions and work practices are identified and actioned
  • Chemicals and reagents are handled as per manualized procedure
  • Hazardous substances are stored, handled and disposed of as per procedures
  • Adherence to documented lab safety rules, guides and practices
  • Incidents are reported and actioned as per procedure.
  • Housekeeping schedules are adhered to

 

Problem Solving:

  • Reduction in time to detect and time to correct defects
  • Completed 5 Whys Job cards
  • Monitor and Control the Packaging Process

 

Measure performance attributes:

  • Record performance attributes
  • Monitor and evaluate trends
  • Assure quality of inputs
  • Initiate corrective action

 

Perform Autonomous Maintenance:

  • Prepare for maintenance tasks
  • Conduct autonomous maintenance tasks
  • Conduct breakdown maintenance tasks

 

VPO

  • General housekeeping at work area
  • Implementation of VPO routines

 

Plant Performance:

  • Shift Plant efficiencies
  • Product Quality
  • Product Quality checks as per required frequencies (Quality at Source)
  • Extract Loss/Beer loss
  • Usage ratios
  • Waste reduction

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Grade 12 certificate
  • Preferred qualification –Craft/ Full Technician Certificate in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or any technical course.
  • Min 1 – 2 years in FMCG manufacturing industry (experience in packaging an added advantage)
  • Computer Literate
  • Ability to work in teams
  • Ability to work in night shifts and on weekends/holidays
