The key purpose of this role is to safely operate and maintain the Packaging plant to produce a consistent product/service/utility of the right quality/quantity at optimum cost.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Operate Packaging plant and equipment:
- Prepare for plant start up
- Start-up plant
- Run the plant
- Shut down the plant
- Execute cleaning of plant
- Complete all documentation
- Control inputs usage
- Ensure plant is in working order
- Safe maintenance practices
Maintain safe and healthy work environment:
- Operate the equipment according to the work instructions and adhering to safe working practices at all times
- Maintain the equipment according to good maintenance practice
Monitor and control the Packaging process:
- Measure performance attributes
- Record performance attributes
- Monitor and evaluate trends
- Assure quality of inputs
- Initiate corrective action
- Perform autonomous maintenance
- Prepare for maintenance tasks
- Conduct autonomous maintenance tasks
- Conduct breakdown maintenance tasks
Perform autonomous maintenance:
- Prepare for maintenance tasks
- Conduct autonomous maintenance tasks
- Conduct breakdown maintenance tasks
Work in teams:
- Communicate effectively in the workplace

Plant Performance:
- Packaging Shift efficiencies
- Product/Service/Utility Quality
- Product/Service/Packaging Quality checks as per required frequencies
- Usage ratios
Minimum Requirements:
- Full Craft Certificate
- Relevant Qualification in Mechanical and/or Electromechanical Engineering
- 3-6 months on the job training
- 1 year in manufacturing industry
- Qualified, trade-tested artisan – Ideal
