Contract type: Fixed Term Contract, Full Time, 37.50 hours per week

Location: Lusaka, Zambia subject to the right to work.

Salary: ZMW 384,653 – 480,816 per year with excellent benefits

About the Team

This role is an integral part of the Provincial Manager’s team The Provincial Manager leads a dynamic sub national programme team, which includes Project Managers, Project Officers, M&E Officer, WASH Infrastructure Specialists, Technical Officers, Community Facilitators/Hygiene Behaviour Change Officers, and Policy Influencing Officers/Specialist. This team is responsible for the development, implementation, monitoring and reporting of robust WASH projects at the sub-national level.

About the Role

The Project Manager will be responsible for the planning, execution, and monitoring of SWISH activities at sub-national and community levels within the Southern Province. The role will also involve active collaboration and engagement with WaterAid staff in Liberia and Pakistan who are part of this initiative, ensuring alignment and shared learning across the project’s implementation sites.

In this role, you will lead the implementation of the Strengthening Wholistic and Inclusive Systems for Health (SWISH) project.

You’ll also: 

  • Work closely with the Provincial Manager, in the planning, implementation, and monitoring of the SWISH project across target locations, ensuring alignment with project goals and donor requirements.
  • With support from the Provincial Manager and other experts, ensures integration of gender-responsive and inclusive approaches within RMNCH and WASH services and practices.
  • Supports capacity building of health workers and community leaders to strengthen health governance, service delivery, and workforce resilience.
  • Together with the Programme Quality, Accountability and Learning Manager, develops and implements robust monitoring frameworks to track progress and measure the impact of SWISH interventions.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with government agencies, donors, NGOs, and community-based organizations.
  • Manages the project budget, ensuring compliance with financial policies and donor requirements.

 

Requirements

To be successful, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, International Development, Health Systems Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum of five 5years of managing large-scale health or WASH programmes.
  • Demonstrated experience in gender-responsive and inclusive programme design and implementation
  • Experience working with government health systems and building multisectoral partnerships.
  • Strong knowledge of RMNCH, WASH, and IPC frameworks and best practices.
  • Excellent leadership, team management, and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in project planning, budgeting, and reporting.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex, multi-country projects and achieve results.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on adaptive learning and innovation.
