    JOB OPPORTUNITY: Psychologist (Youth Mental Health & Trauma Support)
    Location: Lusaka, Zambia
    Position Type: Part-time

    Job Summary:
    We are seeking a qualified and compassionate Psychologist to provide psychological support to youths (ages 18–25) who may be experiencing mental health difficulties or have a history of trauma. The ideal candidate is passionate about youth development, trauma-informed care, and creating safe spaces for emotional healing and resilience-building.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Provide individual and group counselling sessions for youths dealing with emotional, psychological, or behavioral issues.
    • Assess mental health needs and develop personalized support or referral plans.
    • Work closely with staff, mentors, and families to identify at-risk youths and provide early intervention.
    • Design and facilitate psychoeducational workshops on topics such as emotional resilience, self-esteem, stress management, and coping with trauma.
    • Contribute to the development of trauma-informed practices across all programs.
    • Maintain accurate records and ensure strict confidentiality and ethical standards.

     

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • Degree in Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Counselling Psychology, or a related field.
    • Full registration with relevant professional bodies in Zambia.
    • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working with adolescents or young adults, preferably in community-based or school settings.
    • Demonstrated experience in trauma counselling, youth mental health, and emotional wellness.
    • Strong interpersonal skills, empathy, cultural sensitivity, and a non-judgmental attitude.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

     

    Desirable Attributes:

    • Experience using art, drama, music, or play therapy techniques.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
    • Passion for youth empowerment, creative development, and mental well-being.
