QHSE OFFICER

Bureau Veritas Zambia requires services of a Quality Health Safety and Environment professional to be responsible for the implementation of effective HSE and/or Q Management systems and processes to reduce work related accidents of Bureau Veritas employees, visitors and contractors as well as reducing our footprint on the environment and improving the quality of the services delivered. He/she works with the Management team to assist them to improve their operations, activities and performance related to HSE and/or Q

The Job holder will report to the Country Manager and will be based in Kitwe. He/ She will perform the Job in the framework of the Bureau Veritas Quality Assurance System, the code of Ethics and the Bureau Veritas Group Polices.

Minimum Requirements
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in QHSE and any related technical field
  • A minimum of five (05) years relevant experience in Quality, Health, Safety and Environment roles function in a reputable organization
  • Valid Driver’s license
  • Ability to initiate and sustain activities
  • Proficient in Microsoft 365
  • Proficiency in both Written and spoken English
  • Very good Communication and Listening skills
  • Experience of working internationally and/or in a multi-cultural environment is an added advantage

Job Specification

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop the QHSSE System for BVZ in line with BV Quality Assurance System and Group policies and procedure
  • Maintain and improve the Quality Management systems
  • Plan, Coordinate and conduct internal audits based on ISO 9001, 14001 & 45001 latest revisions
  • Manage action requests (Corrective and Preventive actions). follow up on priority actions and the quarterly forecast along with the management
  • Update actions into the action plan Management System
  • Prepare and revise work procedures and risk assessments when required
  • Customer Satisfaction Survey Management, Manage Customer Complainants (Analysis, Recording, Monitoring) solving them technically in cooperation with related parties
  • Prepare and facilitate for external audits
  • Record and report HSE near hits, accidents, action plan
  • Ensure all BU are compliant with our QMS (training, monitoring,  ..)
  • Ensure all newcomers are going through the BV Zambia Induction program
  • Ensure all incidents and audits are completed and recorded appropriately in NEXUS
  • Check that all employees have access to MAIA App for recording unsafe conditions and fully participate in safety toolbox talks and campaigns
  • Ensure that managers conduct “Safety Check by Manager” in the workplace

Environmental

  • Dispose waste in a responsible manner
  • Enforcing safety regulations and national regulatory laws are adhered to by all personnel
  • Report all environmental incidents to management immediately or as soon as reasonably practicable
  • Use natural resources in a responsible manner
  • Participate in all emergency drills
  • Conduct work to customer specific requirements and adhere to customer rules (where applicable)
  • Participate and contribute to impact and aspect register with regards to your area of responsibility
  • Ensuring compliance with legal & moral obligations with regards to the position by understanding & implementing relevant sections of the Environmental requirements for Zambia

Safety

  • Report all incidents and accidents to management immediately or as soon as reasonably practicable
  • Take care of my own health and safety while conducting work
  • Conduct work to customer specific requirements and adhere to customer rules (where applicable)
  • Participating in emergency training
  • Participate and contribute to hazard and risk register with regards to your area of responsibility
  • Ensuring compliance with legal & moral obligations with regards to the position by understanding & implementing relevant sections of the Occupational Health and Safety requirements for Zambia
  • Maintains a high standard of housekeeping by implementing the relevant procedures with regards to best practices.
  • Always apply all safety rules
  • Conduct 2 minutes for my safety before starting a task
