Description
· Responsible for implementing a Plant-wide DCP Sustainability programme (Carbonisation) strategy and managing annual events and budget
· Facilitate the Zambia decarbonisation roadmap, including identifying and evaluating technologies and processes to reduce carbon emissions in the cement value .
· Align and build the capacity of data and technical teams for decarbonisation, including Transport and Supply Chain, to deliver on decarbonisation actions within short timelines
· Engage in building trusted, lasting partnerships with industry groups and technology providers to harness opportunities for green financing, carbon offsetting, carbon credits,
· Ensure compliance with local, national, and international environmental regulations, emissions reduction standards, and climate-related policies
· Provide guidance on industry practices and applicable methodologies, focusing on the upcoming sustainability and decarbonisation-related protocols
· Works with Plant Management and Group Head, Sustainability and key stakeholders to recognize and communicate all firm initiatives that have social impact.
. Stay up to date on relevant standards and global best practices and research industries to build out tailored data needs (eg. performance indicator benchmarking, data regionalisation, decarbonisation strategies)
· Support the communication channels for initiatives involving Social Performance or may have Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) disclosures to ensure strong brand management to the public.
· Provides consultation and support to lines of business and inclusion networks.
Performs any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering, chemical engineering, or related field. An advanced degree will be an advantage.
· Post Graduate Degrees such as MBA is preferred.
· Minimum of 5 -10 years’ experience in practice of community affairs, managing multiple stakeholders and resolving complex organizational issues relating to the stakeholders
· Atleast 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, environmental sustainability, or a related field.
· Proven experience in decarbonisation, carbon management, or energy efficiency initiatives within an industrial or manufacturing setting with 2+ years experience in GHG accounting
· Good commercial understanding of business strategy, sustainability planning and execution
· Interpreting and applying strategies that are focused on positive results.
· Managing multiple tasks with changing priorities to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment with constant interruptions.
Membership of the Engineering Institution of Zambia or equivalent or Membership of an internationally recognized environmental management professional.
