
Workers' Compensation Fund Control Board
The Workers’ Compensation Fund Control Board (WCFCB) is a social security scheme responsible for compensating workers in respect of accidents suffered and diseases contracted during the course of employment in accordance with the provisions of the Workers’ Compensation Act No. 10 of 1999 of the Laws of Zambia.
The Workers’ Compensation Fund Control Board invites applications from suitably qualified Zambian citizens to fill the following vacant positions.
4. SYSTEMS DEVELOPER – HEAD OFFICE
1A. JOB PURPOSE
To develop software and Database Management, System Integration, and deployment using modern tools and frameworks. This role is focused on building, optimizing, and deploying applications, ensuring their seamless operation on both client-side and server-side components.
B. JOB RESPONSIBILITIES.
- Develop and maintain responsive front-end applications using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks like React, Vue.js etc..
- Have working knowledge in Java, Python and other OOP languages.
- Ensure that the application is mobile-friendly and works across all devices.
- Collaborate with UI/UX designers to ensure a high-quality user experience.
- Design, develop, and maintain robust back-end services and APIs using Spring Boot.• Build and optimize database schemas and queries for MySQL, PostgreSQL, and Oracle databases.
- Containerize applications using Docker for efficient deployment and scaling.
- Ensure applications run smoothly on Oracle Linux, Ubuntu, and Windows servers.
- Integrate third-party APIs and services into existing systems.
- Work closely with front-end developers, database administrators, and business analysts to ensure seamless integration of components.
- Collaborate with Project Managers and stakeholders to understand business requirements and deliver high-quality software solutions.
- Provide technical guidance and training to team members.
- Write comprehensive unit, integration, and system tests to ensure application reliability.
- Identify and resolve bugs in both client-side and server-side code.
- Optimize application performance and security.
- Stay updated with the latest advancements in technologies such as Spring Boot, React, Database Technologies, and DevOps practices.
- Propose and implement innovative solutions to enhance system efficiency and user experience.
- Ensure compliance with IT policies, audit requirements, and data protection regulations.
- Provide user support and training as needed.
C. KEY SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES.
- Proficiency in object-oriented programming in Java and the Spring framework, including Spring Boot or any other such frameworks.
- Strong knowledge of relational database systems (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle).
- Experience with containerization technologies, specifically Docker,
- Understanding of Linux-based systems (Oracle Linux, Ubuntu) and Windows servers.
- Knowledge of RESTful API design and implementation.
- Familiarity with mobile development.
- Expertise in test-driven development and CI/CD pipelines.
- Familiarity with version control systems like Git.
- Solid understanding of microservices architecture.
D. JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Grade Twelve (12) Certificate with five (5) credits or better which should include English and Mathematics.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Technical certifications in IT disciplines or technology
- At least five (3) years’ work experience in systems development with a combination of Management level experience.
