Description

The position reports to the Roads Supervisor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Strict adherence to African Parks’ Standard Operating Procedures (AP SOPs).
  • Transport crushed rock, sand, and gravel to and from designated locations.
  • Verify the type and quantity of materials being transported, ensuring they do not exceed weight limits.
  • Ensure proper loading and unloading of materials following Safe Working Procedures and Risk Assessments.
  • Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections of the dump truck, including checking oil, fuel, water levels, lights, and tires.
  • Promptly report any accidents, injuries, or mechanical issues to management or relevant authorities.
  • Maintain truck cleanliness, conduct routine maintenance, and ensure compliance with the Truck Owner’s Manual.
  • Communicate regularly with end users and supervisors to follow delivery schedules and report any traffic or site-related issues.
  • Keep accurate records of transported materials and completed tasks.
  • Represent Greater Kafue Landscape Limited professionally and courteously at all times.
  • Complete all assigned tasks within the designated working hours.
  • Maintain an accurate vehicle logbook.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and workplace policies.
  • Perform any other job-related duties as assigned by management.
  • Ensure proper housekeeping at worksites.
  • Follow all operational manuals and site signage.
  • Report any vehicle defects to the workshop/transport section.
  • Follow instructions from supervisors and comply with standard procedures.

Note: The above responsibilities are not exhaustive. Additional duties may be assigned as required, within the scope and grading of the role.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Minimum Grade 12 Certificate.
  • Class CE Driver’s License, held for at least three years from the date of first issue.
  • Valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate.
  • Clean driving record with no major violations.
  • Proven experience operating standard dump/tipper trucks.
  • Solid understanding of construction site safety, truck maintenance, and road safety regulations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to operate multiple types of equipment is an added advantage.
  • Strong aptitude for fieldwork.
  • Reliable, dependable, and safety-conscious.
